On Tuesday, 25th October 2016 the interest organization SAGIT (Securing of goods in transit) arranged a Cargo Securing Conference at Näringslivets Hus in Stockholm. As in previous years MariTerm AB answered for the practical arrangements.
To highlight the topics below a representative from the European Commission, policy-makers and technical experts participated and among others the following topics were addressed:
- Introduction of common requirements for cargo securing in Europe, based on the standard EN 12195-1 for cross-border road transport through EU directive 2014/47/EU on flying inspections
- The revision of the Swedish road regulations for securing cargo as a result of the EU Directive
- The revision of the Swedish regulations for securing cargo for sea transport, in order to implement IMO/ILO/UNECE Code of Practice for Packing of Cargo Transport Units (CTU code)
- Practical application of the SOLAS requirements for weighing of containers in Sweden
- The question of who should be responsible for the railways cargo securing regulations and possible revision of the Swedish regulations for cargo securing on rail
- Ongoing revisions of various standards in the cargo securing area
- Innovative equipment, new tools and educational materials for securing cargo
